Some bands you might want to check out during CMW in Toronto.

Over 500 bands will play in Toronto during CMW March 19-24. Some will be awesome, others will be cutting their showcase teeth.

Here’s a quick list of bands you should try to see.

Poor Young Things

Each time this band hits the stage they elevate their game. Poor Young Things play the Horseshoe March 21.

The Strumbellas

A friend of mine said “You sure do like The Strumbellas”. I guess I do. Go check out this JUNO nominee March 21 at the Horseshoe.

Great Bloomers

This band is up for the Emerging Artist of the Year award at the SiriusXM Indies. See why when they play March 21 at the Horseshoe

Teenage Kicks

2013 will be the year Teenage Kicks hit the next level. Check them out at the Horseshoe March 21.

The Bovine who win the award for Worst Bathroom will have a cool lineup March 22 with The Dirty Nil on at 11pm and Dearly Beloved at 2am

The Mark Inside

The Mark Inside is a band that writes enough material to head into the studio every week. See them live at the Horseshoe Sunday March 24 at midnight.

Lowell

Lowell has worked with members of Coldplay and A-ha. Look for Lowell at Lee’s Palace March 22.

The Besnard Lakes

Jace and the Besnards are back with new music, and they always offer a great show. Get to Lee’s Palace March 22 to see this great band.

Imaginary Cities

On May 28 Imaginary Cities will release Fall of Romance. On March 22 if you’re at Lee’s palace you will hear a bunch of new stuff live.

Stars with Said the Whale at the Danforth Music Hall

Vancouver’s Said the Whale have won a JUNO and will have new music this summer. I caught a couple songs pre master. Yup they are good. See them open for Stars who have been on the road for the last 6 months. I caught Stars play new stuff last September in Montreal, and I’m looking forward to them playing those songs again on the 21st.

Elephant Stone

Love the song Heavy Moon from this band. Check them out at The Garrison March 21st.
